Hello students!
I hope you've been enjoying the weekly updates for our SDG Book Club books!
"Aurelia's Way Back Home" is a story about a baby jellyfish, named Aurelia Aurita, trying to find her way back home through plastic pollution within the ocean. This story reflects on ocean pollution and sustainable living, teaching younger students about the carbon footprint and the consequences of pollution.
This book was derived from my experience researching Aurelia Aurita, commonly known as moon jellyfish, and from my experience volunteering to clean the ocean. My research on jellyfish can be found here! (https://nhsjs.com/2024/aurelia-aurita-mucuss-percent-uptake-of-polyethylene-capturing-microplastics-with-jellyfish-mucus/)
This book will soon be printed and donated to multiple local libraries as well as opened up for free online dissemination! In the meantime, as we wait for those hard copies to arrive, please feel free to email me at (elliesohn28@gmail.com or toeloquentellie@gmail.com) in order to get a free pdf version of the book.
For those of you in Los Angeles, near the Eaton Fire, I will be volunteering at a couple of locations and am offering free food and clothing to those in need, so please reach out. This is certainly a devestating fire, and I too have just returned from evacuation to a scorched neighborhood. Please stay safe, and stay tuned for more classes launching!
Thank you so much and please stay safe!
